March 16-19, 2019

Escape the winter blues and come enjoy the warm sunshine in our desert.  Mornings start off in the 60s, daytime highs in the 70s, capped off with beautiful sunsets and delicious meals.

We like to have as much fun on the bike as we do off it, but we're still about the whole riding experience:

  • The views
  • the company
  • learning new skills
  • coming home with great stories

We'll make sure you have an unforgettable time, but you won't be so crushed each day that you collapse in a dusty heap at the end.

I've been coaching half day clinics for years, but now I'm super psyched to share this experience with the same group over a multi-day trip, and relaxing at a plush house at the end of the day.

Scott really has a good knowledge of biking body geometry and how to best utilize it with the bike under you.

ride.  relax.  repeat.

We'll be riding in the middle of the warm desert on swoopy trails, with just enough tech to keep it fun!  Time is also included to relax, because after all, you ARE on vacation, right?

Boost your confidence and riding skills

With included skills clinics, you'll leave a better rider than when you arrived.

Is Bike Paradise right for you?

  • Warm up with off-season riding in the sunny, beautiful Sonoran desert.
  • A little bit of technical riding mixed in with a whole lotta fun.
  • Rides will be around 10-20 miles each with 500-1000 ft elevation changes, and area elevation around 2100 ft.  No need to bring an oxygen bottle.
  • Different paces will be accommodated.  We're not gunning for Strava KOM or QOMs, just smiles and good vibes.
  • Do you have a friend or Significant Other who wants to come, but riding isn't their thing?  They're welcome too, with a discounted rate!  There's plenty of other activities we can help plan for them.

I'm crazy excited about how much fun we're gonna have!  Are you ready?  Me too!  Let's do this!

What I took away from your beginner’s class was nothing short of amazing.  I went from riding totally scared and not wanting to do it, to now I go down (mostly) any trail I’m up against and I ride 3 or 4 times a week.  Now I need to schedule my next class and learn even more!

Itinerary

Day 1

We'll start your vacation at 2:00PM with introductions, an overview of the upcoming activities, and an orientation on riding in the desert.  After you get settled and we make sure your bike is dialed in, we'll head out for a light, easy spin from the house.  Upon return, enjoy a picturesque sunset during "happy hour", followed by dinner at the house.

DAY 2

After breakfast, we'll start the morning with an MTB skills clinic hosted by Scott.  Put your newly learned skills to use as we embark from the house on a 2-3 hour ride throughout the McDowell Mountain Park.  Lunch will be served "on the trail", then we'll continue on the journey with a 1-2 hour ride, finishing back at the house.  Enjoy a soak in the hot tub followed by dinner at the house.

DAY 3

Loosen tight muscles with a myopractic stretching session after breakfast, hosted by a local professional myopractioner.  We'll then hop onto a shuttle for a short drive to the neighboring Brown's Ranch trail system.  After exploring the amazing variety of trails and scenery there for about 2 hours, lunch will be served at the Brown's Ranch trailhead.  We'll then hop back on our bikes and enjoy a mellow 1-2 hour ride back to the house as we link up the Brown's Ranch trail system and McDowell Mountain Park trails.  Back at the house, you can enjoy a massage, relax and freshen up, then we'll head into the iconic town of Cave Creek for dinner.

DAY 4

After breakfast, you'll start your last day with a final MTB skills clinic hosted by Scott.  We'll then embark from the house on one last 2 hour ride in the McDowell Mountain Park, finishing up at the house with lunch and our farewells.

About your host

Bike Paradise was started by Scott Givens, an avid mountain biker with over 25 years of riding and competing under his pedals.  An IMBA ICP Level 2 certified ride guide and skills coach, he's been coaching beginner and intermediate riders since 2013 through pedalTherapy.com.

Additionally, for over 10 years, Scott has provided coaching, ride guiding and logistical support for Magura's annual press camps in Sedona (he's also known to make some delicous sourdough pancakes).  The unique formula under which these camps are run have brought magazine editors back over and over again.

Scott studied this formula, then tweaked it to provide the backbone of the Bike Paradise Vacations.  After you experience the community feel of the house coupled with the privacy of the rooms, quality rides with delicious post-ride food, plus the camaraderie and memories established on each trip, you too will want to come back to Bike Paradise over and over again.

You can learn more about Scott here.

Even after many years of riding, the class was a blast. I originally took the class to support my girlfriend’s jump into mountain biking, but I ended up learning so much. I wish I knew 10-15 years ago what Scott taught in three hours. Scott did an amazing job of describing AND showing proper technique.
